Working with us

Laura, Solicitor, Commercial Property

"It was the interview that really clinched my decision to join."

"Before I joined I was working at a large City firm, which is where I did my training contract. My mum had worked quite closely with Beachcroft LLP's employment department through her job as a Personnel Manager at an NHS Trust, and I'd heard good things about the firm.

"It was the interview that really clinched my decision to join. What came across more than anything was that they wanted someone who could not only do the job but who would fit in well with the rest of the team and have a life outside the office. They arranged for me to go out for an evening with four of the assistants in the team so I could ask them all the questions I didn't want to ask in the interview. Everyone came across so well and I decided they were people I could really see myself working with.

"Primarily I buy and sell property and act for landlords and tenants entering into leases, but in practice I have the opportunity to get involved in a bit of everything. Since joining I've acted on a variety of matters; one of the biggest was acting for a major building contractor when they needed to complete a lease within a week. At the end I received an extremely complimentary email from my client thanking me for all my hard work.

"Another interesting deal was the development of a new ambulance station for an NHS Trust. It was very complex, involved lots of different contracts and meant we needed to use expertise from across the firm in planning, tax and construction. When it was all finally signed I was invited to the official opening of the ambulance station. It was a great chance to see the finished product and I even got a mention in the speech!

"At my old firm I worked much longer hours, mainly because there was more of a culture of sitting around until late in the evening just to be seen - no one wanted to leave first. Here that culture doesn't exist. Generally if things are calm I leave between six and half past to enjoy the delights of the Piccadilly Line on my way home."
